DiscoverEaston.com was originally built for a small business organization in Easton, Maryland. As the organization morphed to include marketing and community development, they realized that it had the potential to become the hub for locals and visitors looking to not only learn more about the town and its businesses, but also to broadcast the events that it featured, take donations, and become a portal for visitors to return to time-and-time again.
How Slick City approached
We brought DiscoverEaston.com into our Main Street package, which includes a significant focus on business listings and events management. Then, we created a site that not only displayed the upcoming events and information about the businesses, but also developed a back-end that allowed business owners to take over their own listings, and community organizations to submit and manage their own events. Visitors were also able to save events and businesses upon signing up for the website, creating their own itinerary before arriving in town.
We also worked within Discover Easton’s membership model. listing all downtown businesses but allowing paying members to appear first in search results, on the home page, and to have special privileged like image galleries and the ability to post events on the website.
We are happy to report that these changes have helped the web traffic at DiscoverEaston.com grow over 340 percent in the first three years since its launch, and the site is on track to reach over 800,000 pageviews in 2020.
